With crowds waiting outside for the doors to open at 6 pm (okay, maybe not crowds: more like a handful of people, and the door was stuck and we let them in early, the point being that the whole evening got off to a good and early start) Artists of Utah’s 35 x 35 Exhibition opened at Salt Lake City’s Finch Lane Gallery Friday evening.
An unofficial count put the crowds at 600 – 700, packing both levels of the gallery for the three-hour opening reception. IAO Gallery’s qi peng showed up as the crowd wound down and weaved his way through the artists and art lovers to shoot a quick video of the opening night.
Meanwhile Brian Staker, art critic for City Weekly and host of The Awkward Hour, took Artists of Utah Executive Director and 15 Bytes editor Shawn Rossiter upstairs for a video interview about the show.
We’ll be posting photos from the opening, plus a page dedicated to the 35 x 35 artists, in upcoming days.
