Exploding Native Inevitable at NEHMA

Logan
August 20, 2025 – January 17, 2026
Reception: Friday, September 19, 2025, 5:30–8:00 pm

Curated by Brad Kahlhamer and Dan Mills, this exhibition showcases twelve contemporary Indigenous artists and two collaboratives whose works push against traditional Western art expectations. Inspired by Andy Warhol’s Exploding Plastic Inevitable, the show represents a “contemporary update,” highlighting Native artists’ vibrant and complex contributions today. Organized by the Bates College Museum of Art, the exhibition complements NEHMA’s ongoing presentations on the history of the Intermountain Indian School by offering a present-day perspective on Indigenous creativity.
