The Springville Museum of Art presents Enduring Beauty: John Hafen and the Power of Art, the first major retrospective of John Hafen, a pivotal figure in Utah’s artistic heritage and co-founder of the Springville Art Movement. This landmark exhibition celebrates Hafen’s extraordinary contributions to American representational art and his belief in art’s transformative power to uplift individuals and communities. Hafen, who trained in Paris during the 1890s, introduced academic techniques that shaped Utah’s commitment to realism, influencing generations of artists. The exhibition features more than 60 of Hafen’s finest paintings drawn from major private and public collections in Utah. Curated in celebration of Dr. Vern G. Swanson and Angela Swanson Jones’ forthcoming book John Hafen: Utah’s Poet Painter, the exhibition aligns with the Museum’s mission to foster joy, wonder, and awe through beauty. Admission is free.
