Salt Lake City
October 20 – December 4, 2025
Opening Reception: Wednesday, October 22, 6:00–7:00 PM
Created by undergraduate researchers from the University of Utah’s Science Research Initiative, Myco-Mysteries: Dive Into the World of Fungi transforms scientific exploration into an engaging, interactive art experience. This “Pop-Up Mycology Museum” bridges the gap between research, design, and public engagement, inviting viewers to discover the essential roles fungi play in ecosystems—from underground symbioses to space research.
Through five large-format posters with tactile 3D features, visitors explore topics such as mycorrhizal networks, fungus-farming ants, and NASA’s use of fungi in closed-loop systems. The project encourages hands-on learning and highlights the creativity of emerging scientists.
Guided by Dr. Kendra Autumn, the participating researchers share a common goal: to make science accessible, imaginative, and inclusive. Myco-Mysteries celebrates both the beauty of the fungal kingdom and the human curiosity that drives discovery.
