Salt Lake City
October 17 – November 28, 2025
Opening Reception: Friday, October 17, 3:30–5:30 PM
Michael Aitken’s Landscapes captures the atmospheric spirit of the American Southwest through luminous oil paintings that balance realism with emotional resonance. His compositions—sunlit canyons, cloud-draped mesas, and desert vistas—explore the interplay of value, light, and texture. Through transparent layers of oil paint, Aitken achieves a glowing depth that evokes the unique stillness and soul of the land.
A native Utahan, Aitken holds both BFA and MFA degrees in painting and drawing from Brigham Young University. His work has been exhibited nationally, including at the Utah Art Center, the American Watercolor Society, and the National Watercolor Society. In Landscapes, Aitken’s paintings stand as meditations on beauty, atmosphere, and the enduring presence of the natural world.
