Covering approximately 14,000 square feet, this collaboration by Utah artists Miles Toland and Joseph Toney is believed to be the largest street mural in the state. Painted on the west side of Astra Tower—Utah’s tallest building—the mural required months of planning and weeks of installation, with the artists working from lifts more than 80 feet above the ground.

The design merges the distinct visual languages of the two artists. Toney’s stylized interpretations of the Wasatch Mountains and surrounding landscape provide the setting, while Toland’s signature figurative imagery introduces two hands at the center of the composition. Together, the imagery references the Wasatch Range, the Great Salt Lake, local wildlife, and the relationship between people and the natural world. The differently colored hands symbolize collaboration, diversity, and the interconnectedness of both humanity and nature.

The mural was commissioned by Kensington Investment Company as part of Astra Tower’s commitment to showcasing Utah artists throughout the building. After responding to an open call in 2024, Toland and Toney developed multiple proposals before their collaborative design was selected for the project.
