Pink Kool-Aid Menagerie — Zachary Fabri at OCA

Ogden
October 2, 2026 – January 3, 2027
Opening Reception: Friday, October 2, 6–9 p.m.
Members-Only Happy Hour: 4–6 p.m.; Artist Performance: 6:30 p.m.

Created out of Brooklyn-based artist Zachary Fabri’s two-month residency in Ogden, Pink Kool-Aid Menagerie is a surreal, collage-like exhibition encompassing painting, photography, video, sculpture and performance. Fabri draws on experiences at the Bonneville Salt Flats, Stansbury Island and the Great Salt Lake—where Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty provides an important point of reference—while incorporating encounters and conversations with communities throughout the region.

The exhibition layers ecology, popular culture, faith, race and historical memory, with pink and salt serving as recurring threads. Fabri connects the Great Salt Lake’s pink, hypersaline environment to Kool-Aid and Jonestown, while other works explore his experience as a Black American encountering the history and contemporary presence of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah. The opening includes a performance by Fabri and a collaboration with Chef Donovan of Jamaica’s Kitchen, connecting Utah’s salt landscape with the saltfish traditions of Fabri’s Jamaican heritage.
