Join 15th Street Gallery for the opening of its February exhibition featuring new work by Douglas Smith and Anne Becker. Salt Lake City–based artist, designer, and writer Douglas Smith creates richly layered encaustic and acrylic works, combining technical precision and experimental process in paintings built from multiple torch-fused layers of pigmented beeswax, while also teaching encaustic workshops nationally. Utah artist Anne Becker creates intuitive, abstract paintings inspired by color, shape, and design, layering paint through an experimental studio process that begins with a chosen focus—whether a color, place, or feeling—while occasionally working en plein air during warmer months.
