Ned Young is a Brigham City, Utah–based painter and illustrator whose realist works find beauty, mystery, and narrative in everyday subjects. Inspired from an early age by drawing and painting, he developed his artistic vision through the study of American realists such as Andrew Wyeth, Jamie Wyeth, Edward Hopper, and Winslow Homer. Young’s paintings are rooted in close observation and a strong sense of place, transforming familiar objects, buildings, and landscapes into evocative reflections on memory and experience. In addition to his fine art practice, he has completed illustration commissions for publishers and companies including HarperCollins, Disney Hyperion, Lang, Colonial Williamsburg, and The New York Graphic Society. His work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the West and in Pennsylvania, where he was featured in exhibitions associated with the Brandywine tradition that has long influenced his work.
