David Ericson Fine Art presents new paintings by Jeff and Julia Pugh. A longtime Utah landscape painter, Jeff Pugh builds his paintings entirely with palette knives, reducing barns, fields, mountains and dramatic skies to broad shapes, layered surfaces and strong blocks of color.
Julia Pugh brings a different sensibility to the natural world. Her paintings use flowers, birds, trees and landscapes as starting points for compositions emphasizing pattern, repetition and texture, creating layered, sometimes collage-like surfaces. Together, the artists offer two approaches to familiar subjects and the gallery’s invitation to “witness the pursuit of happiness.”
