Casey Childs is a figurative and portrait painter whose work explores the complexity of human experience through close observation of the people around him. Born in Powell, Wyoming, Childs earned an A.A. from Northwest College and a B.A. from Brigham Young University, and further developed his skills through an apprenticeship with William Whitaker. Working primarily in paint, he seeks to capture not only the likeness of his subjects but also their individuality and inner character. Influenced by artists such as John Singer Sargent, Nicolai Fechin, and Caravaggio, Childs approaches each painting as both a study of another person and an exploration of his own artistic journey.
