Barbara Brandenburg is a Salt Lake Valley artist who paints the rural landscapes of the American West in oils. Her subjects include weathered barns, pastures, pioneer trails, and the mountain landscapes of the Wasatch and Teton ranges—scenery she describes as the “Mild West.” Working both plein air and in the studio, Brandenburg uses thin layers of oil paint and expressive brushwork to capture the atmosphere and character of the Western landscape.
