Springville
August 27, 2026–July 23, 2027
Featuring works by more than 20 contemporary master artists, Contemporary Portraiture examines the portrait as an act of interpretation rather than mere documentation. Through paintings, sculpture, and film, the exhibition explores how artists use medium, style, setting, and technique to reveal not only the likeness of a sitter, but the complex relationships between artist, subject, and audience. Organized around the tension between public and private portraiture, the exhibition considers how portraits construct identity—whether projecting a carefully crafted public image or preserving an intimate, personal moment.
