For years, the Springville Museum of Art’s Spring Salon has served as a place where we at 15 Bytes both discover new artists and take stock of what those we already know are doing. The 15 Bytes Discovery Award, inaugurated this year in partnership with the Springville Museum of Art, recognizes an artist whose work, encountered at the Spring Salon, compels deeper attention and invites further exploration.
This year’s award goes to Zane Anderson, whose intricately imagined, surreal constructions draw on memory, symbolism, and psychological ambiguity. His work resists easy interpretation, instead unfolding as a series of persistent, half-formed images that suggest a personal mythology. It is precisely this richness and elusiveness that makes Anderson an artist we want to know more about. Stay tuned to 15 Bytes for a full profile of the artist.
The award was presented as part of the museum’s opening reception and awards ceremony Saturday, April 25.
