Randy Hankins Studio Space

by Kelly Green

Walk into a painter’s studio and it’s all about color: on the palette, on the canvases, dripped on the floor and spilled in every corner. A sculptor’s studio, on the other hand, is all about line. The colors tend to be muted when not completely monochromatic, but as Randy Hankin’s Salt Lake studio shows, the arrangements of lines and textures in a sculptor’s studio can turn into some powerful compositions under the probing lens of an astute photographer.
