Pythagoras among the Cattails

Dan Gerhart’s 2003 sculpture, featuring a bronze sphere atop a stainless steel pole and named for the 6th-century Greek, rises up out of the cattails near the Pioneer Precinct police station. A lot is attributed to Pythagoras — in the fields of mathematics, astronomy, philosophy — but it may be his idea of the transmigration of souls that most attracts those brought into the station. 1040 W 700 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84104.
