LORE: Exploring the Power of Story Through Fantasy, Folklore, Sci-Fi, and Myth at Compass Gallery

PROVO
June 5 – July 11, 2026

Drawing together artists working in imaginative and narrative traditions, LORE examines the enduring power of storytelling through fantasy, folklore, science fiction, and mythology. The invitational exhibition explores how artists use invented worlds, archetypal figures, and mythic narratives to address timeless questions of identity, belief, memory, and human experience.

Curated by Howard Lyon and Esther H. Candari, the exhibition features a diverse group of artists whose work spans illustration, painting, and imaginative realism. Participating artists include Alondra Paredes Uhi, Annette Everett, Brandon Gonzales, Brooke Bowen, Bryan Mark Taylor, Cambria Christensen, Carly Milligan, Christian Degn, Crystal Despain, Esther H. Candari, Greg Newbold, Howard Lyon, Kaitlund Zupanic, Kari Christensen, Kwani Winder, Liz Harris, Lovetta Reyes-Cairo, Nicole Parish, Randolph Peay, Rebecca Sorge, Shari Lyon, Stacy Minch, and Steve Argyle, with additional artists to be announced.

Through dragons and deities, heroes and monsters, speculative futures and ancestral traditions, LORE celebrates the stories we inherit, the stories we create, and the ways narrative continues to shape our understanding of the world.
