Artist Reception: Saturday, September 12, 3–5 p.m.
Art for Bears Ears and The Grand Staircase Escalante features work by five emerging artists from the University of Utah’s printmaking program who make up the She Loves Me Not Press collective. Responding to Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments, the artists consider the cultural, ecological and artistic value of these southern Utah landscapes and what may be lost as their protections change.
Each artist contributes two to three works informed by research and previous experiences in the region, with three members of the collective also traveling to Bears Ears to create work in situ. The exhibition invites viewers to contemplate these landscapes as they are and as they undergo change.
