South Salt Lake
August 29 – October 9
Reception: Saturday, August 29, 6–9 p.m. (Curator talk at 7 p.m.)
Coinciding with Material Gallery’s third anniversary and the reopening of its newly expanded space, After the Unmaking: New Ground is a guest-curated exhibition by artist and educator Moses Williams. Featuring work by David Onri Anderson, Isabella Covert, Elise Drake, Fawn Krieger, Ron Lambert, Kiera Ohrn, and Jacob Riddle, the exhibition explores what new possibilities emerge when familiar political, economic, and social systems begin to unravel. Working across painting, sculpture, textiles, video, performance, and mixed media, the artists investigate relationships between bodies, technology, labor, identity, and the natural world, proposing material and experiential ways of imagining new futures rather than returning to old ones.
