15th Street Gallery presents an October group exhibition featuring new work by Utah artists Alex Gerrard, Lindsay Frei and Jenna von Benedikt.
Gerrard creates intuitive, process-driven abstract paintings, approaching each gesture as part of a meditative “call and response.” Frei, a painter and University of Utah faculty member, has explored still life and the figure in works that give familiar objects and bodies an ambiguous, sometimes psychological presence. Von Benedikt draws on nature, spirituality and ideas of creation and stewardship, with birds and other natural forms recurring throughout her richly patterned paintings.
