Glenda Gleave is a Utah-based figurative and portrait artist known for her classically inspired realism and commissioned portraiture. After raising six children, she devoted herself to intensive artistic study, training with leading contemporary realist painters and developing a practice centered on drawing and painting from life. Working exclusively in oil, graphite, and charcoal, Gleave creates portraits and figurative works that emphasize craftsmanship, enduring materials, and the traditions of the Old Masters. Her background in science, music, and clothing design informs her work, particularly her attention to anatomy, composition, and historically inspired costume design. An award-winning artist, she continues to pursue excellence through ongoing study and direct observation, creating paintings that seek to bring light, life, and humanity to their subjects.
