In Birds of A Heather, Heather Olsen presents a series of paintings inspired by her deep personal connection to birds, weaving together observation, memory, and emotion. Each work reflects the individuality and presence of birds encountered in her daily life, while also serving as symbolic stand-ins for relationships, life experiences, and moments of transformation. Balancing delicacy and resilience, Olsen’s paintings explore the parallels between human and animal worlds—capturing both tenderness and survival. A Salt Lake City–based artist trained at the University of Utah and through atelier study, Olsen is known for her vibrant, emotionally resonant oil paintings, with a practice that spans figurative, narrative, and animal subjects.
