“My current work focuses on vintage campers in atmospheric landscapes. The paintings have a dreamlike quality that evoke a sense of nostalgia for a simpler time. They are minimalistic in their composition and colors. The portrayal of aging recreational vehicles trigger memories of trips to new places and the promise of protection from the elements. The metallic icons can be beautiful in their ghostly solitude. Conversely, they are reminders of eroding, transient artifacts, littering the environment and scarring the landscape. I create my paintings in series to explore a variety of themes and painting styles. I feel the constant pull to paint both representational and abstract work. My other series portray midcentury modern homes and Utah landscapes. My paintings illustrate my associations with memories of home, along with a sentimental longing and wistful affection for the past.”
