Nolan Flynn’s is one of the studios you’ll be able to visit this weekend during the 10th annual Avenues Open Studios: Off the Grid (see below). “While working through my pieces they begin as a sketch or painting calisthenic,” Flynn says. “It is important for a consistent awareness of considerations; purity of composition, and mark making. I aim to capture the piece at the height of connection, lest contrived moves or overworked optics enter in.” Allison Willingham will be featured at Flynn’s studio as well.
10th Anniversary Avenues Open Studios: Art Off the Grid
On September 20–21, 2024, the Avenues Open Studios will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a milestone event featuring diverse artistic expressions. Visitors can explore the creativity of local artists over two days, with studios open from 4 to 8 PM on Friday and from 11 AM to 7 PM on Saturday. To ensure attendees don’t miss a thing, a free shuttle bus service will be available on Saturday, making it easy to visit all participating artists. This unique event offers a chance to interact with artists, view their creative processes, and discover a variety of artwork. AI, Art, and Memory: A Panel Discussion at UMOCA

RE-PLAY: A Dance Theatre Experience at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center
