Fullmer sources tens of thousands of spent .22 caliber casings\u2014primarily collected from local shooting ranges\u2014which he rinses, sorts by their naturally aged patina, and meticulously sets into composition on hardboard. Through this process, he builds tonal range the way a painter builds value: a single 5,000-piece work may require roughly 20,000 spent shells to achieve the necessary spectrum of color and light. The result is both a meditation on material and a reconstruction of cultural debris into visual form.
