If I don’t draw, I’ll explode. I draw to express my concerns with life and explore my imagination. I try to distill the vapor of dreams into the dance of lines on paper.<\/p>\n

I don’t use models as my work all comes from my mind, but is firmly rooted in my experience. I start a work with a blank sheet and an idea.\u00a0 I put marks on the paper to try and capture the idea, but in the process, the marks I’ve made take on a life of their own.\u00a0 They call out needs and suggest things that modify and refine my initial idea and often I’ll end up with an expression of my idea that I could have never predicted when I started.<\/p>\n

I have been traditionally educated with degrees in art emphasizing drawing and illustration.\u00a0 I had an amazing career in Art Education and now that I’m retired all I do is my own art.<\/p>\n

I create mainly drawings and watercolors and I usually run them through the computer to see how I can fiddle with them.\u00a0 I shun graphite and continually hunt for pencils that will give velvety, dark, blacks.\u00a0 My watercolors are created mostly with Winsor Newton products. Generally I don’t sell originals as I prefer to sell fine prints of my work.\u00a0 I do originals for commissions including portraits.<\/p>\n

In my drawings I use the figure in odd settings to express my ideas.
