Cat Palmer<\/p><\/div>\n

The Utah Film Center has announced that Cat Palmer will serve as the Festival Programming Director for the 2024 Utah Queer Film Festival (UQFF), previously known as Damn These Heels. Scheduled to take place from October 24 through 27 at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in downtown Salt Lake City, the festival will also offer virtual screenings from October 27 through November 3.<\/p>\n

Marking its twenty-first year, the UQFF continues its mission to present a diverse array of queer stories through a carefully curated lineup of films. Cat Palmer, a mixed media artist, writer, and acclaimed photographer, brings a fresh energy to the festival’s programming process. With over six years of experience on the programming team, Palmer’s extensive knowledge and broad network within LGBTQIA+ communities are instrumental in selecting films that elevate the festival’s impact.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is my sixth year programming for the festival,\u201d said Palmer. “As Festival Programming Director, the biggest challenge is to work through the top-tier quality films we have and curate a lineup for the festival that offers diverse and engaging stories for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Palmer will lead a team of 27 programmers, collaborating closely with Utah Film Center’s Director of Programming, Russell Roots, and Executive Director, Mariah Mellus, to curate a dynamic and thought-provoking lineup of LGBTQIA+ cinema. The festival also aims to expand its online programming this year, focusing on increased accessibility for those unable to attend in person.<\/p>\n

Russell Roots expressed his enthusiasm, stating, \u201cWe couldn\u2019t be more thrilled to have Cat as the Festival’s Programming Director this year. Her contribution to the direction of film curation and growing the festival has been undoubtedly impactful. Cat’s creativity brings a new dimension to the role and has made this process incredibly exciting for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
