Taylor Wright is an oil painter based in Salt Lake City. His recent work is a series of contemporary vanitas still life paintings. He is a graduate of the Utah Valley University painting program, and works as the Exhibition Designer for the UVU Museum of Art by day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This series of paintings is formally influenced by the 17th-18th century vanitas still life tradition, but applies a symbolic language derived from a 21st century American context: memento mori born out of the background radiation of routine mass shootings, surveillance, police executions, and a feedback loop of escalating alienation & spiritual crisis.<\/p>\n
