Observing, remembering and forgetting are key in my work, on occasion they’re the engine, beginning or denouement. In my work there has existed and persisted an interest for the hidden, the little or non-discernible, the frail, the enigmatic and the versatility of shapes and it’s models, these being persons or objects. Always transiting between the sculptural and the photographic, stopping at the images, the landscapes and the objects, in their own peculiarities and in the way they reflect and affect society. On the back of this inquiry there’s a beating question for memory and oblivion, for what we see and, at the same time, looks back at us. For the way, finally, in which an image, regardless of what it records, is charged with a time and at the same time mutates according to what we know, the same way as objects do. I consider “see” as the ability to imagine, feel, decipher, find, and more. To see through touch, sound, smell; perceive, play and create.

LINKS
https://www.abelvasquez.com

IMAGES

Abel Vasquez, “A look at the Missing Object [Veiled Artifact 06],”
