\"\"<\/a>Estrella Chinchay, a photographer currently in the BFA program at Utah Valley University, possesses a commitment to exploring the intersection of art, social justice, and representation. Born with an innate curiosity and a profound respect for diversity, Estrella channels her creative vision to spotlight the stories, struggles, and triumphs of marginalized communities.<\/p>\n

Driven by a desire to challenge norms and amplify underrepresented voices, Estrella uses her lens as a tool for advocacy and change. Her work transcends mere aesthetics, delving into the depths of societal issues, shedding light on the often-unheard narratives of BIPOC and LGBTQ individuals and communities.<\/p>\n

In her photographic journey, Estrella deliberately seeks out opportunities to collaborate with diverse artists, valuing the richness that different perspectives bring to her craft. Through her work, she explores culture, community, and the multifaceted layers of identity.<\/p>\n

As a student, Estrella actively engages in conversations and initiatives that bridge the gap between art and activism. She believes in the transformative power of art to challenge societal norms and ignite meaningful change. She does this through her work at grassroots organizations, research, and creative writing, along with her photographic pursuits.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ARTIST STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

Worldmaking has become a daily practice for myself and my community. Within digital media, photography, and fashion, I am constantly pushed to new places, often alone. Few people in this industry look like me behind the camera despite the increase in representation in front of it. Although the representation conversation feels oversaturated and tokenized, there is so much value in approaching it with intention and curiosity. I constantly ask myself how I can make my BIPOC community feel comfortable, safe, and seen in a space they oftentimes feel alone. As I grow within my art, I will continuously ask these questions while worldmaking for BIPOC in creative spaces.<\/p>\n
