\nThe Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center (138 W Broadway, Salt Lake City) celebrated its 25th anniversary this week with the unveiling of a new mural by Salt Lake City artist Lenka Konopasek<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, known locally as “The Rose,” opened in the summer of 1997, the long-time dream of several performing arts companies in Salt Lake City. In addition to providing a venue for numerous individual recitals, concerts, performances and film screenings, it is currently home to five resident companies: Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation<\/a>,\u00a0Plan-B Theatre Company<\/a>,\u00a0Pygmalion Productions<\/a>,\u00a0Repertory Dance Theatre<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Commissioned by Salt Lake County Arts & Culture and located on the center’s exterior west wall, “Shape Shifting” celebrates the movement of dance that happens within the center. Incorporating the lines of the cut paper works Konopasek has been creating for several years, work rises up to the sky, grabs hands with a partner and swirls in joy. The work is especially effective because the bright colors and dynamic line work contrast with the grey brick work that surrounds it.<\/p>\n
