Urban Gallery 2010<\/p><\/div>\n

The new Urban Gallery at Neighborhood House goes up this weekend, Friday September 23, and Saturday, September 24.<\/p>\n

Since 2008<\/a> the 337 Project<\/a> has been transforming the garage doors at Salt Lake’s Neighborhood House into an Urban Gallery,<\/p>\n

featuring work by Utah’s street and fine artists. In previous years the Urban Gallery has been the result of a competition in which an artist or team of artists had 24 hours to complete their door and compete for the prize. This year the entire suite of doors will be transformed by the team of artists whose RFP was selected by the Salt Lake Art Center (the umbrella organization that now runs the 337 Project).<\/p>\n

Swinj Art Production, a collaboration featuring\u00a0Benjamin Wiemeyer, Evan Jed Memmott, Gailon Justus, Mike Murdock, Richard Landvatter, Trent Call, Skyler Chubak, and Sri Whipple, has been chosen for this year’s Urban Gallery. According to lead artist Trent Call, \u201cEach artist will bring their own unique style to the project to present the community with a cohesive,<\/p>\n

life-affirming mural that celebrates life in an accessible urban style. Earth elements, wind, light, and animals will be personified by characters, abstract shapes, and bold patterns within a fantastical landscape. By unifying all the doors into one composition, each door becomes a window into this colorful, fun, and funky world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Festivities will be held on site and will include interactive art, family-fun activities, music, and more.\u00a0 The event is free and open to the public and will be held Friday from 3:00 to 9:00 PM, and on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Uinta Brewing will offer libations and tasty food will also be available for purchase.<\/p>\n
