We\u2019ve talked about music and visual art collaborations in 15 Bytes recently (click here<\/a>). Now it seems the two can\u2019t get enough of each other.<\/p>\n

Music and visual art join forces once again for Southern Utah University\u2019s truly unique and highly entertaining Satellite Salon Series<\/em>, in a special two-day festival of events developed by members of the university\u2019s music, art and design departments.<\/p>\n

Peter Jacobson<\/p><\/div>\n

On Friday, Peter Jacobson and Dr. Lynn Vartan will present a master class and demonstrate instrumental techniques. Jacobson will interact with some students and coach their own\u00a0performance. The master class is targeted to college and high school age students. On Saturday morning the casual \u201cArts Unwrapped\u201d features a program in which youngsters explore their creativity in a unique hands-on art. Noisy children are welcome to attend with their parents who can walk them around the family-friendly event which is geared to young children, families and the community.<\/p>\n

The third and final event is a free concert entitled \u201cStrings Attached,\u201d which will highlight a vibrant collaboration of the instrumentalists and visual artist. The concert\u2019s first half will feature Peter Jacobson, Tylana Renga and Dr. Lynn Vartan performing works that showcase the cello, violin and various percussion instruments. In the second act, in a special collaboration between music and art, SUU\u2019s assistant professor of graphic art and design, Jay Merryweather will accompany the musical trio by creating visual art live onstage inspired by the improvised musical performance. The concert promises to be a vibrant work of art and a feast for both the ears and eyes.<\/p>\n
