{"id":57990,"date":"2021-04-08T18:25:16","date_gmt":"2021-04-09T00:25:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/?p=57990"},"modified":"2021-10-26T11:21:42","modified_gmt":"2021-10-26T17:21:42","slug":"sunni-brown-wilkinson-reads-ghost-and-joseph-strouds-ode-to-the-smell-of-firewood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/sunni-brown-wilkinson-reads-ghost-and-joseph-strouds-ode-to-the-smell-of-firewood\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunni Brown Wilkinson Reads &#8220;Ghost&#8221; and Joseph Stroud&#8217;s &#8220;Ode to the Smell of Firewood&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Wilkinson_Poets-in-Pajamas.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-57991\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Wilkinson_Poets-in-Pajamas-350x355.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"355\" \/><\/a>Sunni Brown Wilkinson says Joseph Stroud&#8217;s <i>Of This World <\/i>is one of the best poetry collections she has ever read. &#8220;Joseph Stroud is a remarkable but less well-known poet, mainly because he purposely shuns the spotlight,&#8221; Wilkinson says. &#8220;He lives part of the year in a cabin in the Sierra Nevadas, has traveled all over the world, and claims a staggeringly wide range of poetry, but my favorites are his quiet, meditative poems, of which there are many.&#8221;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>For our <em>Poets in Pajamas<\/em> series, Wilkinson has chosen to read Stroud&#8217;s translation of Pablo Neruda&#8217;s &#8220;Ode to the Smell of Firewood.&#8221; She says it &#8220;celebrates something we all experience but often don&#8217;t pay enough attention to.
