Then the closures hit. (The exhibit only opened to the public, in a limited way, in June.)\u00a0 A year since the closures, we have decided to check in with the artists from\u00a0<\/em>35\u00d735<em>\u00a0to see what they\u2019re working on now in our\u00a0<\/em>WIP<em>\u00a0feature.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/20210315_125354-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-57516\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/20210315_125354-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/20210315_125354-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/20210315_125354-350x467.jpg 350w, https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/20210315_125354-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/20210315_125354-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/20210315_125354-1200x1600.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/20210315_125354-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bountiful artist Alison Neville has gained a statewide reputation for her small, politically charged diorama, like the ones featured in our <em>35&#215;35<\/em> exhibition last year, staged in found containers like sardine tins. Recently, she says she has returned to her foundation in drawing, &#8220;Most recently this has been fungi, probably a venture in escapism, spurred on by an artist residency gone virtual I attended last fall.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The drawings pictured here, on the desk in her studio, are only days or weeks old, but they belong to a stack of small, quick work spanning almost fifteen years. &#8220;Initially they started as a low-anxiety response to keeping a daily sketchbook which I could sketch or doodle on during lunch or other downtime,&#8221; the artist says. &#8220;The newest problem I&#8217;m taking baby steps towards addressing is my fear of using color. Cue sharpies, looking at retro &#8217;60s floral sheets, and slightly bigger paper.
