{"id":52844,"date":"2004-02-08T05:03:03","date_gmt":"2004-02-08T11:03:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/?p=52844"},"modified":"2020-03-24T05:05:19","modified_gmt":"2020-03-24T11:05:19","slug":"stephanie-st-thomas-an-artist-with-a-legacy-of-elegance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/stephanie-st-thomas-an-artist-with-a-legacy-of-elegance\/","title":{"rendered":"Stephanie St. Thomas: An Artist with a Legacy of Elegance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>by Alexandra Blantyre<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/stephanielandscape1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-52845\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/stephanielandscape1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/stephanielandscape1.jpg 240w, https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/stephanielandscape1-100x80.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a>When people first meet Stephanie Saint Thomas, they are taken by her graceful and elegant presence.\u00a0 She is clearly a woman who has come into her own and who knows love and loss.\u00a0 Stephanie\u2019s work is an expression of her heart.\u00a0 Her brushstrokes are bold and elegant, her jewel toned acrylic pallet, rich and without apology.\u00a0 She orchestrates her paint to dance in a reverie of passion.\u00a0 This is a woman that means what she says and picks those she loves to love for life.\u00a0 The whimsy might be that of laughter in the moonlight, but it is never to be taken for fickle flight.<\/p>\n<p>When one learns of Stephanie\u2019s background, it\u2019s easy to understand how she found her place in the art world.\u00a0 Stephanie Saint Thomas grew up in Europe until the age of 15.\u00a0 Her artist parents, Gregory and Diane, both studied under the tutelage of Avard Fairbanks, best known for designing the Eagle Gate.\u00a0 She was always very close with her parents and they continue to be a major influence to her, even after their deaths.\u00a0 While living in Holland, her father was appointed one of the Crown Jewelers to Queen Juliana of the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>Stephanie worked very closely with her father, especially in jewelry design, which is the area she first began her career as an artist, selling her collections at Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Weinstocks and ZCMI.\u00a0 In addition to jewelry and fine art, she started her objects d\u2019art line, making collectable boxes, picture and mirror frames and tables.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Stephanielandscape4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-52846\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Stephanielandscape4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"125\" \/><\/a>Her latest painting collection, entitled Portals, includes many large expressionist landscapes, carried out in her signature vibrant colors and finished with a lustrous resin.\u00a0 Many of the pieces are framed with vintage church window frames.\u00a0 This collection can be seen at Magpie\u2019s Nest, located at 39 North \u201cI\u201d Street, January 10th through February 13th.\u00a0 Magpie\u2019s Nest will be open for Gallery Stroll on January 16th, from 6-9pm.\u00a0 Please call 363-7764 or 277-6551 for more information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Alexandra Blantyre &nbsp;
