My positionality as a decedent of mexican migrant workers growing up in a mixed race family affords me a unique lens to explore themes such as race and ethnic identity with my work. My descriptive experience of being brown in white spaces in addition to how familial heritage is navigated within ones own community further informs the personal and social commentary of my current work. Common motifs within my work include border walls, mexican pottery, nike symbols, guns, cops, and brown bodies. Employing techniques found within abstraction and neo-expressionism my work aims to evoke emotional response while still maintaining relevant commentary on contemporary politics and society.

As a self-taught artist and descendant of mexican migrant workers, Albas large scale paintings and drawings evoke an emotional response while still maintaining relevant commentary on contemporary politics and society.
