She graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in Art History and from there moved into arts education and taught youth through programs at the UMFA and for many years with Bad Dog Arts. She received her Masters degree in Public Administration in 2011 and has been working with the SLC Arts Council for two years. She was recently promoted to the position of Assistant Director, replacing a dear friend, Kim Duffin, who passed away in November, 2012.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"stretch\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15bytes\/images\/0sp0.jpg\" alt=\"e\" width=\"15\" height=\"15\" border=\"0\" \/><span class=\"byline\">\u00a0What are you reading lately?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15bytes\/images\/0sp.jpg\" alt=\"e\" width=\"16\" height=\"15\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0I just finished reading\u00a0<em>Strapless<\/em>\u00a0by Deborah Davis which is about John Singer Sargent\u2019s painting &#8220;Portrait of Madame X&#8221; and right now I am reading\u00a0<em>The Old Man and the Sea<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Everyday is an Atheist Holiday<\/em>\u00a0by Penn Jillette. I enjoy reading and started a book club last year to rope my friends into spending their evenings talking about books.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"stretch\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15bytes\/images\/0sp0.jpg\" alt=\"e\" width=\"15\" height=\"15\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"byline\">What hangs above your mantel?<\/span><span class=\"stretch\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15bytes\/images\/0sp.jpg\" alt=\"e\" width=\"16\" height=\"15\" border=\"0\" \/>I just hung a stipple ink drawing my dad completed of the Nautilus from\u00a0<em>20,000 Leagues Under the Sea<\/em>. Since I was very young, I have known that art would be an important part of my life as I watched my dad work in his \u201csanctuary,\u201d at his drawing table in the basement. I love having his artwork in my house now. Over my other mantel hangs a WWII era Japanese naval katana which belonged to my fianc\u00e9\u2019s grandfather.<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15bytes\/images\/0sp0.jpg\" alt=\"design element\" width=\"15\" height=\"15\" border=\"0\" \/><span class=\"byline\">\u00a0What is your favorite building in Utah?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15bytes\/images\/0sp.jpg\" alt=\"design element\" width=\"16\" height=\"15\" border=\"0\" \/>Perhaps I am only using this response as a plug for the Arts Council, but I have really grown to love and appreciate the Art Barn and all of the truly amazing programs and services that come out of there. I love going to work in such a neat building and I am very grateful to be a part of the Arts Council.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"stretch\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15bytes\/images\/0sp0.jpg\" alt=\"e\" width=\"15\" height=\"15\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0<span class=\"byline\">If you could choose one person to paint or sculpt your portrait who would it be?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15bytes\/images\/0sp.jpg\" alt=\"e\" width=\"16\" height=\"15\" border=\"0\" \/>I am going with Frans Hals. I love 17th century Dutch art and his portraits make me smile.
