{"id":43863,"date":"2009-04-07T15:12:21","date_gmt":"2009-04-07T21:12:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/?p=43863"},"modified":"2023-11-13T13:56:32","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T19:56:32","slug":"waves-of-mu-hits-salt-lake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/waves-of-mu-hits-salt-lake\/","title":{"rendered":"Waves of Mu Hits Salt Lake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve been following\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amycaron.com\/\">Amy Caron&#8217;s<\/a>\u00a0developing\u00a0<em>Waves of Mu<\/em>\u00a0project ever since Ed Bateman profiled the artist in our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.artistsofutah.org\/15bytes\/07mar\/page3.html\">March 2007 edition of 15 Bytes<\/a>. Caron was still in the developmental stages of her installation\/performance informed by the developing science of &#8220;mirror neurons&#8221; when Bateman wrote: &#8220;As Caron describes\u00a0<em>Waves of Mu<\/em>, the performance aspect will incorporate a stealthy infusion of performed contagious behavior throughout the evening and theatre under the facade of a lecture demonstration. Audience members will participate in the performance consciously and unconsciously.&#8221; The project has turned into a complex two-room installation-performance that promises to drive multidisciplinary art headlong into new territory.<\/p>\n<p>Caron and her crew have taken the project to Vermont, Alaska (see a video of the installation in our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.artistsofutah.org\/15bytes\/08nov\/page4.html\">November 2008 edition<\/a>) and New York, and this weekend, April 3rd and 4th, they will be bringing it to Salt Lake City.
