\"tb-bw\"<\/a>Bio<\/h3>\n

Terrece Beesley grew up on a potato farm in Idaho, the youngest child, with four older brothers trying to keep her in line. She attended Utah State University, earning a BFA in painting and textile design. She then married, had her first child, and began her career as the owner\/partner of a publishing company. This was followed by a freelance career in product design, publishing, and computer animation, as a single mother raising three children. In 1991 she married Jerry Poulson, who added two great kids, to their \u201cBrady Bunch.\u201d Together they have seven grandchildren and tons of photos.<\/p>\n

Since 2000, Terrece has concentrated on watercolor paintings, while working with the Utah Arts Council\u2019s Artist in Residence program. She has been actively teaching at elementary schools around Utah, giving watercolor seminars to high school and elementary students at Weber State University, and teaching adults at the Eccles Community Art Center.<\/p>\n

Artist Statement<\/h3>\n

I am fascinated by the icons of our daily life. The people, places and objects in my paintings speak volumes about our culture. I use watercolors to show the ordinary and extraordinary things in life in a new light.<\/p>\n

My working process starts by photographing my subjects numerous times from different angles, usually combining several photos for my final painting. I enjoy looking intently at my subject matter, striving for the correct perspective, attitude, or tiny reflection that will bring it to life. Then I throw away the photograph and concentrate on the painting itself.
\nThe viewer will see very few flat washes in my paintings. I prefer to mix colors on the paper and use brush strokes to give my work rhythm and energy. These brushstrokes add a loose quality to what would otherwise be extremely realistic paintings.<\/p>\n
