Courtesy the artist.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>University of Utah sculpture intermedia professor\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wendywischer.com\/\">Wendy Wischer<\/a>\u00a0has been chosen as one of Epicenter\u2019s Frontier Fellows in the eighth year of the program. Fellows come from a variety of disciplines and include designers, poets, visual artists and folklorists. They are chosen \u201cto discern and celebrate the town of Green River [Utah] and its surroundings,\u201d providing critical insight and reflection on contemporary Western America.<\/p>\n<p>Originally from Wisconsin, Wischer has an MFA from Florida State University (1995) and a BFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (1993). She creates work in a variety of media from sculptural objects, to installations, videos, sound and public works. Her conceptual focus highlights environmental issues, fusing scientific processes and understanding into poetic, personal works.\u00a0 \u201cI am excited to spend time in Green River, away from the city, immersed in this unique rural community and learn more about the land and the people there. I hope to be inspired and to inspire in ways I cannot yet imagine from afar,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0Wischer\u2019s work \u201cOnce there was a tree. . . and she loved a little boy\u201d can be seen in the current\u00a0<em>UT \u201917<\/em>\u00a0show at Rio Gallery (see our review\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/index.php\/ut-17-showcases-the-states-talent-in-painting-and-sculpture\/\">here<\/a>).
