{"id":36139,"date":"2004-03-02T14:50:49","date_gmt":"2004-03-02T20:50:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/?p=36139"},"modified":"2020-03-24T05:16:55","modified_gmt":"2020-03-24T11:16:55","slug":"laverne-stevens-cherry-snowball-blossom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/laverne-stevens-cherry-snowball-blossom\/","title":{"rendered":"LaVerne Stevens&#8217; Cherry &#038; Snowball Blossom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2004\/03\/stevens.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-52862\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2004\/03\/stevens.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"192\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: .1pt 0in .1pt 0in;\">That Doesn&#8217;t Mean It&#8217;s Yours!<br \/>\n&#8220;Cherry &amp; Snowball Blossoms&#8221;<br \/>\nwatercolor on paper<br \/>\nLaVerne Stevens<\/p>\n<p>Because the Arts Council is a state agency, we are often asked to provide paintings to adorn the offices of politicians and other big names in government.\u00a0 We are slowly trying to phase out the practice for several reasons, including the one surrounding this painting by LaVerne Stevens.<\/p>\n<p>The Visual Arts Program makes an effort to inventory loaned artwork on a regular basis.\u00a0 We visit the Capitol, the governor\u2019s mansion and other state buildings to make sure everything is in its proper location.\u00a0 We check the backs of the paintings to make sure our contact information is correct and we secure the \u201cDO NOT REMOVE\u201d stickers, ensuring their legibility.\u00a0 One day the Stevens painting was missing from its designated wall.\u00a0 The visual arts coordinator and registrar searched high and low, but couldn\u2019t seem to zero in on its location.
