\nFree concert at Marmalade Library\u2019s outdoor plaza: 6 p.m. Genre Zero (Alternative Rock) (with a bit of fiddle); 7 p.m. The Disposable Thumbs (Jazz) \u2013 blankets and chairs encouraged. Alt rock and jazz out of doors \u2013 put down your brushes and go.<\/p>\n

Clinton<\/strong>
\nClinton Heritage Days: Besides the carnival, music and food booths, there\u2019s something for artistic types, too. Today\u2019s events include a quilt show and painting in the round demo. \nSmall Press Panel\u00a0, at 7pm in the Main Library Auditorium in conjunction with Saturday\u2019s Alt Press Fest. This event will feature panelists from independently-created publications, and will be moderated by\u00a0SLUG Magazine<\/em> Editor Alex Ortega.<\/p>\n

\nThe City Library\u2019s eighth annual Alt Press Fest celebrates zines, alternative press, and the people creating it in Salt Lake City. Visit with local artists and see their wares, watch prints be made with a steam roller, create origami and sumi ink illustrations, and see bookbinding in action. \"Watercolor<\/a><\/p>\n

Utah Museum of Fine Arts Third Saturdays for Families continues during the temporary closure with Watercolor Salt Paintings: Study watercolor landscapes from the collection for inspiration. Then experiment with a creative technique using watercolor and salt to make your own artwork. While painting with watercolor and before it dries, sprinkle salt on it and a cool blooming pattern appears before your eyes.\u00a01-4 p.m. at the nearby Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts & Education Complex in the Art Works for Kids Auditorium. 1721 E. \"redlake\"<\/a>12 Minutes Max: <\/strong>A monthly showcase of short works and works-in-progress by local artists in many disciplines, music, dance, film, writing theater, performance art: each 12 minutes or less. The whole event is under an hour and followed by coffee, cookies, conversation and feedback. This month you can catch an excerpt from Deseret Experimental Opera Company’s<\/span> forthcoming opera <\/span>Red Lake – written by Luke Swenson, composed by Stuart Wheeler<\/span> and choreographed by Emma Wilson. Three campers lost on Antelope Island during a storm confront their own psychoses reflected in the harsh and otherworldly beauty of the Great Salt Lake. This opera mixes music, dance and poetry to form snapshots of our lake’s unique and undervalued landscape.
