Carmel. It&#8217;s pretty much agreed that this abstract artist, who has painted full-time for about five years on large canvases in a loose, painterly application, is truly on the rise. &#8220;I have started on a couple of large diptychs at the end of 2014 of which one is finished and the other I am still looking at,&#8221; she says. &#8220;I like to look at my paintings for a long time even when the actual painting is pretty much done. This allows me to really let the piece &#8216;sink in&#8217; and gives me time to make sure I am quite satisfied with the way it &#8216;speaks&#8217; to me. For example, quite often I have returned to older pieces and reworked the images to my satisfaction. Reversely, I have paintings of which I was not too excited about at the time of completion and two years later, I take it out and look at it with fresh eyes and really like it. &#8216;Pig Iron&#8217; which recently sold to Utah state for it&#8217;s permanent collection is one of those pieces.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Associated locally with Phillips Gallery and Terzian Galleries in Park City, Oonju Chun has also done a residency at Maynard Dixon&#8217;s home in Mt.
