\"\"<\/a>With what’s going on this weekend you could look at it either as the end of summer, or as the beginning of a new art season. There’s the Rose Exposed event (see yesterday’s post), a chance to take a look at what’s coming up at some of Utah’s most exciting performing arts group.<\/p>\n

It’s also a big weekend at Saltgrass Printmakers<\/a>. Really Big. They’ve got works so big they’re going to use a 1.5 ton steamroller to print them. And they’re such friendly people they’ll yet you print as well. Bring a board and they will supply the ink and paper (40 inches wide). They’ll even let you drive. It’s $25 to print, or you can just show up to watch the crazy process, which begins at 10 am.<\/p>\n

In Park City tonight Meyer Gallery<\/a> presents Art Live, featuring two of the gallery artists demonstrating their techniques. Darci Bertelsen uses frames from old family movies as source material for her atmospheric and indirect paintings. Mark Crenshaw hikes deep into our Uinta mountains with a pinhole camera to collect material for his elemental landscapes. The event will be going 6 to 9, as part of the Park City Gallery Association’s last Friday Gallery Stroll.<\/p>\n

It is Labor Day weekend, so if you want to celebrate with a little travel you might consider Spring City’s Plein Air Competition, Art Studio Tour and Arts Festival. The artists will be wrapping up painting today, and a reception and sale preview will happen tonight at 7 pm. Awards are announced Saturday, followed by the art sale, 10-4 pm. While you’re down there you can visit the studios of 30+ artists who live in the area (both Saturday and Monday).
