Influenced by the history of Japanese woodblock printing, Steele-Makasci combines watercolor with Japanese-style hake brushes, using repeated brushstrokes to create luminous fields of color through a process she describes as meditative and restorative.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition reflects the artist&#8217;s lifelong commitment to artmaking and her belief in the value of persistence, continual learning, and daily creative practice. Through works that emphasize color, rhythm, and process, Steele-Makasci invites viewers to experience moments of solace, repose, and the instinctive joy she finds in painting and printmaking.<\/p>\n<p>An interdisciplinary artist and educator, Steele-Makasci is Professor of Art in the Department of Art &amp; Design at Utah Valley University, where she teaches painting, drawing, printmaking, and art education.
