Finding his name in print in 15 Bytes should be accolade enough, but he&#8217;ll also be pleased this week that Artspace, the non-profit he founded in 1987, will be recognized when Governor Gary R. Herbert presents the 2012 Governor&#8217;s Leadership in the Arts Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The recipients for this year are:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Teri Orr<\/strong> has made Park City her home for the past 34 years and has been the  director of the Park City Performing Arts Foundation for the past 18  years. Through her hard work and pioneering leadership, Teri has put  Park City on the arts and culture map.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The City of Ogden , <\/strong>led by<strong> <\/strong>Mayor  Mike Caldwell, nurtures a thriving community that serves as an arts  junction \u2014 a place where a diverse population unites to create and  celebrate the best in human expression.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chris Roberts <\/strong>has been<strong> <\/strong>an  educator for 34 years. He\u2019s gained a reputation across the state as a  regular classroom teacher who does amazing arts activities with his  students, and he inspires other teachers to do the same.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/artspacepcforweb.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-10378\" title=\"artspacepcforweb\" src=\"http:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/artspacepcforweb.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/artspacepcforweb.jpg 350w, https:\/\/artistsofutah.org\/15Bytes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/artspacepcforweb-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Artspace <\/strong>founder  Stephen Goldsmith\u2019s dream of \u201cartists as city-builders\u201d laid the  foundation for this group\u2019s mission of creating affordable live\/work  space for artists and nonprofits. Current executive director Jessica  Norie carries on this vision of revitalizing communities.<\/p>\n<p>The  2012 Governor\u2019s Leadership in the Arts Awards will be presented by   Governor Herbert at a luncheon during the annual Mountain West Arts   Conference on May 3, 2012, at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center in   West Valley City . Reservations for the luncheon and registration for   the conference are available online at <span style=\"color: #800080;\">artsandmuseums.utah.gov<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Also at the luncheon, <strong>Governor Herbert will be announcing the new Utah Poet Laureate<\/strong> as outgoing Utah Poet Laureate Katharine Coles completes her five-year  term. Initiated in 1997, the Poet Laureate is a Governor-appointed  advocate for literature and the arts throughout the state.
