Sunset at Sun Tunnels

On Saturday evening, about seventy-five people descended on the Sun Tunnels in Utah’s west desert to watch the sunset with the artist Nancy Holt, who is in town for the opening of her exhibit Sightlines, at the UMFA (read about it in the October edition of 15 Bytes).

Twenty or so came from the museum’s Young Benefactors, a group which, among other things, purchases a contemporary work for the museum’s collection every year (read more about the group in our November 2008 edition). Before taking the bumping ride to Lucin, the group visited the Center for Land Use Interpretation in Wendover, Utah. Laura Hurtado was there for 15 Bytes, and in our November edition will be reporting on the state of land art in Utah today.
