Sugarhouse Art Walk

If you’ve read this month’s edition of 15 Bytes, you know Local Colors of Utah is now in Sugarhouse. A detail you might have missed in the article is that Sugarhouse now has its own Art Walk, a welcome event since there are far too many art openings in the capital city to see them all on one night.

The Sugarhouse Art Walk takes place the second Friday of the month and features close to twenty venues, including Sugar Space, Saltgrass Printmakers, Rockwood Studios, 21st Studios, Artistic Framing Co. and, of course, Local Colors. This month’s event is bike-themed, though you’ll only need your shoes to get to most of the venues. Venues are open 6 to 9 pm, and Sugar Space is offering a post-walk screening of “Forks Over Knives” (www.forksoverknives.com) at 9:45 pm for a $3 donation. For more info on the event visit http://sugarhouseartwalk.com/

As part of Art Walk our friends at Saltgrass Printmakers are holding an Open Press, where Nic Miller will be demonstrating letterpress printing with the gallery’s Kelsey Press (you can take home a Mother’s Day card made with your own hands). And Stefanie Dykes and Michael Gaffney will be holding a sneak preview of their May 26th workshop, Sunlight & Water. You can learn to draw, expose, develop and print your very own image in under 30 minutes.

Works by Michael Gaffney and Nic Annette Miller will be on exhibit during the Art Walk. For more info visit http://www.saltgrassprintmakers.org/
