Lloyd Platt Studio Space

Lloyd Platt Studio Space
a photo essay by Kelly Green

Like many people who study art in college Lloyd Platt went on to do something a little more practical for a living. After graduating with a BFA from the University of Utah Platt earned a Masters of Architecture and ran a successful practice in the field for over 25 years. A decade ago he returned to his early studies, and now his architectural firm is home to as many canvases and brushes as it is plotters and computers.

The light filled space at 4645 Highland Drive in Holladay is mostly white, leaving the color work to be done by Platt’s abstract canvases which are filled with washes of colors and smoldering masses of paint. His recent works are on display this month at Sugarhouse’s 15th Street Gallery.
